Prior to law school Marla worked in the banking industry. During college she worked as a bank teller and collection specialist. She obtained her degree in Business Finance from Arizona State University and went on to work full time for Bank of America as a collection specialist until she moved to Spokane to attend law school. Marla obtained her law degree from Gonzaga University in May 1997. She took her first job with a small firm focusing on family law and has continued to practice in the area of family law since that time. Prior to opening Spokane Divorce Attorneys, Marla was a shareholder with Feltman Ewing (formerly Ewing Anderson) where she worked from 2000 through 2021. Early in her career she provided litigation support for her partners at Ewing Anderson. From 1999 through 2018 she served has a Title 11.88 Guardian Ad Litem. For the past 20 years Marla’s practiced almost exclusively in the area of family law including all aspects of divorce, child custody, child support and parenting plan modifications. From 2005 to 2018 she was a Pro Tem Court Commissioner for Spokane County Superior Court.
Marla has been an active member of the Spokane County Bar Association and served on the board as a Trustee from 2013-2015, Treasurer 2015-2016, President-Elect/Secretary 2016-2017 and President from 2017-2018. In addition to her work with the Spokane County Bar Association, she serves as a President of the Board of Directors for the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. In her spare time she likes to enjoy the outdoors, read, and spend time with her husband and children.
